During the weekend of May 13th, the members and friends of Redeemer Lutheran will NOT be coming to church! Instead of coming together to worship Christ, we will be worshipping by going out into our community and modeling Christ’s love through intentional acts of service.  We will be moving our portable sanctuaries (temples) into God’s mission field - and letting our neighbors know we are Christians by our love. Our love for God and neighbor will be manifested in our work and service to others over the weekend as we offer compassion in the name of Christ. We praise God for the opportunity to serve Him as we help others in need.

Service projects and details are posted on the large “Compassion Weekend” bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall - and more are being added! Some projects will be for Saturday, some on Sunday - and some for BOTH! There are service projects requiring all ages and abilities so everyone can participate and be part of Compassion Weekend. Please prayerfully consider which project can use your abilities. There will not be a Sunday morning worship service, and our sign outside will announce to all that, “The church has left the building!” Our weekend will conclude with a Sunday evening potluck and worship event of storytelling and celebration.

The goal is to use all our different gifts together in service to others, and then gather to share our experiences and lessons learned about discipleship. So plan to be involved! We need ALL our gifts, and ALL our workers.

“Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out the workers into his harvest field.’”
-Matthew 9:35-38

Watch for details, and choose which harvest field can count you as a worker.

Lutheran World Relief Personal Care Kits:
Below is a list of items needed to complete a LWR Personal Care Kit. You are invited to bring as many items as you wish into worship with you from now until Compassion Weekend - when we will gather to assemble the kits. LWR will then distribute kits to folks in need - perhaps a refugee camp or survivors of a flood or earthquake.
