Evangelism

February is the month to make declarations of love. Poems are written, flowers are sent, and hearts filled with chocolate fly off the store shelves - all in an effort to let someone know JUST how much you love them. And if you don't know quite what to say, or exactly how to say it, Hallmark has a way of condensing love letters into just a few perfect words.

As Christians, we know all about the love of God for us in Jesus Christ. We know with a deep and intense certainty that: we are chosen; we are loved; we are redeemed. And we get to rest securely in that knowledge. But it's not just about resting. The Great Commission calls us to "Go and make disciples of all nations." How? By declaring God's love, and delivering His message of salvation. In other words, evangelizing.

Since we've already established that we are ALL on the Evangelism Committee, it's our job to deliver God's declaration of love to the world. To our neighbor. To our coworker. To a child. We need to let all who lack that deep and intense certainty know JUST how much God loves them. And if you don't know quite what to say, or exactly how to say it, John 3:16 condenses God's love letter into just a few perfect words.

“For God loved the world so much, that he gave his Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not die but have eternal life.” - John 3:16

Martin Luther called this verse, "the heart of the Bible - the Gospel in miniature." It summarizes the great, boundless nature of God's love. God didn't just love the world, He SO loved the world that He gave a most wonderful gift. Delivered to everyone. FOR everyone. And everyone deserves to know that remarkable fact. So let's tell them! Declare it so we can ALL rest in the knowledge that He loves us. For this is most certainly true.

Wednesday February 29th will be our first soup supper as we gather for a simple meal before our Wednesday Lenten services. We would like to encourage everyone to join us at 6pm for supper. We will have sign up sheets in the Fellowship Hall for those who can bring a pot of soup, bread, or a beverage to contribute to our dinners. It is always a time to get better acquainted with other Redeemer family members. Looking forward to seeing you on Wednesdays.
